(ANSA) - Rome, August 24 - The spread between Italian 10-year bonds and the benchmark German bund grew to nearly 450 points in late trading Friday. The spread, an indicator of investor confidence in Italy's ability to weather the euro crisis, reached as high as 449 points before dipping slightly to 447. The spread had been as low as 406 points on Wednesday, but fears of a double-dip recession in the eurozone have made investors wary, and markets were stagnant after a meeting between German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Greek Premier Antonis Samaras over Greece meeting its bailout commitments.
