Soccer: Pato to have injury tests 'in coming weeks'

(ANSA) - Milan, August 23 - AC Milan's injury-prone Brazil striker Alexandre Pato will have medical tests "in the coming weeks" to see how long it will take him to come back from a left hamstring tweak suffered in training this week, the club said Thursday. "In the next few weeks further medical examinations are envisaged which will establish the time for recovery and a return to soccer activity," a statement said. The injury came five days before Milan's Serie A debut at home to Sampdoria Sunday, compounding Milan's problems with a depleted attack after Sweden ace Zlatan Ibrahimovic left for Paris Saint Germain last month. Brazilian striker Ze' Eduardo's loan move to Milan from Genoa fell through earlier Thursday. With Pato out, ex-Inter striker Giampaolo Pazzini - swapped for Antonio Cassano this week - is likely to start against Samp. Pato got injured five times last season and only played 17 games. In his four years with Milan he has had 12 muscle injuries.
