Soccer: Conte 'a scapegoat', Agnelli claims

(ANSA) - Turin, August 22 - Juve Chairman Andrea Agnelli on Wednesday slammed the Italian Soccer Federation for upholding a 10-month match-fixing ban against coach Antonio Conte for actions in his former role at Bari. Agnelli, who said Juve would appeal to the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI), claimed the ruling confirmed "the worst suspicions" about alleged bias. He added that Conte was allegedly being "scapegoated" for actions that had nothing to do with his current job. Serie A champs Juve are being led by touchline coach Massimo Carrera, a former player, but Conte is continuing to run things despite the ban.
