Court upholds Juve's Bonucci, Pepe match-fixing acquittal

(ANSA) - Rome, August 22 - A federal appeals court on Wednesday confirmed the match-fixing acquittal of Juve's defender Leonardo Bonucci and his club teammate Simone Pepe. Italian Soccer Federation (FIGC) prosecutor Stefano Palazzi had requested a ban of three and a half years for Bonucci and one year for Pepe for alleged wrongdoing committed at their respective former clubs, Bari and Udinese. Bonucci was suspected of involvement in an agreement to fix a match between Udinese and Bari in May 2010, while Pepe was suspected of having known about it and not informed the authorities. Both were previously cleared of offences by an FIGC disciplinary panel early August. photo: Juve defender Leonardo Bonucci
