(ANSA) - Mantua, August 16 - Three women took the top prizes in Mantua's annual global 'Madonnari' artistic competition Wednesday. The competition in the nearby town of Grazie di Curtatone, for works inspired by the Madonna, was won by Ketty Grossi, from San Giorgio di Mantova, who submitted a drawing titled Redemption, drawn on the forecourt of the Madonna delle Grazie church with colored chalks. Second prize in the competition, which marked its 40th anniversary, went to Cristina Cottarelli, from Mantua, for her work Pontius Pilate Washing His Hands, while third place went to Michela Bogoni, from Brescia, who presented her Annunciation. Some 170 Madonnari artists from around the world participated. Mexican Juandes Vera's work won the top gong from a jury of local people.
