(ANSA) - Vatican City, August 16 - The Vatican's Pontifical Council for the Family came out in support of French bishops in their condemnation of gay unions on Thursday. "We are united with the French Episcopal Conference," Council President Monsignor Vincenzo Paglia told Vatican Radio, adding that "gay marriage represents a shock to society. "Nobody wants to deny individual rights. Absolutely not. But marriage is another thing, and the family is born from marriage".
