(ANSA) - Naples, August 16 - A leader of one of Naples' Camorra crime families was shot in the leg as he got off his boat in the town of Vico Equense on the night of August 14-15. Nino Spagnuolo, 35 years old and believed by police to be one of the leading figures in the D'Alessandro syndicate, was shot by a masked gunman, who then escaped via the sea, he told authorities. Spagnuolo was with a 20-year-old South American woman, who was injured in the foot by a piece of shrapnel. The two only reported the incident Thursday. Both were admitted to hospital and treated for slight wounds. A local unit of the Carabinieri police is investigating.
