Olympics: Italy's Mangiacapre takes boxing bronze

(ANSA) - London, August 10 - Italy's Vincenzo Mangiacapre took bronze in the super lightweight boxing at the London 2012 Olympics on Friday after losing his semi final 15-8 to Cuba's Roniel Sotolongo. "I gave it everything I had but today I was tired, I still hadn't recovered from the previous match," said the boxer from Marcianise in the southern Campania region. "It's a pity, I am sad about it, because I feel I am the best (in the category)... However I hope I have been an example of determination for the young people of Marcianise," he added. Meanwhile Italian heavyweight boxer Clemente Russo is in the running for a gold medal after making it through to the final of the 91kg category by beating Azerbaijan's Teymur Mammadov 15-13 in the semifinals. He will take silver if he loses in the final.
