(ANSA) - Rome, August 8 - Labor Minister Elsa Fornero on Wednesday predicted a difficult autumn for Italy's economy amid the global crisis. "Certainly autumn will not be easy, as yesterday's data shows," she told Italian radio program Anch'io. Italian GDP dropped 0.7% with respect to the first three months of the year, national statistics agency Istat said Tuesday, adding that preliminary estimates put GDP 2.5% lower in the second quarter of this year than it was in the same period of 2011. That is the biggest fall since the third quarter of 2009, when GDP slid 3.5% compared to the period between July and September 2008. "This crisis is very heavy and puts the future of Italian industry at risk," said Fornero.
