Soccer: Aquilani set to join Fiorentina

(ANSA) - Rome, August 3 - Alberto Aquilani was in Florence to do a medical with Fiorentina on Friday after the Serie A club reached a deal to sign the midfielder from Liverpool. Aquilani played for his hometown club AS Roma before joining Liverpool in 2009 in a 24-million-euro deal. But he failed to make an impact with the English side, in part because of a string of injuries, and was loaned to Juventus in the 2010-11 campaign and to AC Milan last term. Aquilani has 21 Italy caps and has scored three international goals but he did not feature in the Azzurri's Euro 2012 squad after losing his starting place at Milan in the second half of last term.
