Heat drives milk output down

(ANSA) - Rome, August 1 - Scorching heat gripping Italy is not only threatening crops, it is also driving down milk production, warned Italian farmers' association Coldiretti on Wednesday. Since the beginning of the summer heat wave, cattle, sheep and goats throughout the country have produced between 10 to 20% less on the average and on the hotest days, up to 50% less, said the association.
