Weather changes throughout Italian peninsula

(ANSA) - Rome, July 23 - A series of weather systems blowing through the Italian peninsula scattering rain and storms on Monday are providing a break from higher-than-average temperatures gripping Italy since late June. On Monday the air force weather service forecast showers throughout the northern regions, concentrated in the east and continuing cloud cover until Tuesday for Lombardy, Veneto and Emilia-Romagna. In Genoa on the northern Tyrrhenian coast, one man was injured on Sunday evening by flying debris due to high winds that continue to cause damage. Central Italy and Sardinia can expect rain and thundershowers, as well as gradually weakening storms along the Adriatic coast throughout Monday. Intense thunderstorms have been forecast for the southern regions and Sicily, intensifying throughout Monday, especially in the region of Calabria where temperatures have plummeted 10 degrees since Sunday.
