Ban says Italy's first black minister a 'strong message'

New York, September 12 - United Nations Secretary-General Ban ki-moon on Thursday said Italy having a black cabinet member for the first time in history sends an important and positive message. On Wednesday at the UN headquarters in New York, Ban met with Italian Integration Minister Cecile Kyenge, who has been the target of repeated abuse since her nomination in April. "I condemn all acts of racism, the incitement to racism and the diffusion of ideas of racial supremacy," added Ban.
