Center left presses Google to pay full taxes in Italy

Rome, September 12 - Google and other Internet multinationals should be required to pay taxes in Italy for the business they carry out in the eurozone's third-largest economy, according to an amendment the centre-left Democratic Party proposed to a bill that is to be reviewed by parliament next week. The requested changes were introduced Thursday, while the draft will be voted on at the parliamentary finance commission on Tuesday. Google's Italian unit Google Italia paid 1.8 million euros of taxes in Italy last year, in line with its fiscal contributions the previous year, according to a July 22 report by ANSA.
