Clash of calendars for Berlusconi date with Senate

(see related) Rome, September 11 - Political players argued Wednesday over their timetable for debating the future of ex-premier Silvio Berlusconi in the Italian Senate. Berlusconi's centre-right People of Freedom (PdL) party and the Democratic Party (PD), led by Premier Enrico Letta, agreed on Tuesday to delay votes by a Senate panel on whether to strip the three-time premier of his parliamentary seat after a tax-fraud conviction was made definitive by the supreme court last month. But debate raged Wednesday on the timetable. On Thursday, the president of the Senate panel probing the Berlusconi affair will have to rule on the issue, said PD member Stefania Pezzopane.
