Italian household spending slumped 3.3% in second quarter

(see related story on GDP) Rome, September 10 - Household spending in recession-ravaged Italy dropped 3.3% in the second quarter of this year, compared to the same period in 2012, Istat said on Tuesday. The national statistics agency said spending on consumer durables was hit particularly hard, with a 7.1% drop. It said purchases on non-durable goods was down 3.3% while spending on services fell 1.8%.
