Hundreds of puppies confiscated from illegal traffickers

Venice, September 9 - Over 100 puppies of different breeds being illegally transported to Spain were confiscated by police near the city of Trieste on Monday. The puppies, many unweaned and kept in cages too small for their breed, were being shipped from Bulgaria, police said. Two Hungarian drivers have been cited for alleged animal mistreatment, illegal trafficking and falsifying documentation. The dogs are being cared for by an animal recovery center.
