Early flu bug has 40,000 Italians laid up

Rome, September 9 - Approximately 40,000 Italians have already been hit by an early flu virus, researchers from Milan's Biomedical Science University said on Monday. The virus, a precursor to the "real epidemic season," is less debilitating and weaker than what is to come, Dr. Fabrizio Pregliasco said. Doctors said that flu season is expected to begin sometime in October or November this year and that the most predominate influenza strain has yet to be identified.
