German Vettel, who leads the standings and is aiming for his fourth consecutive world title, clocked a time of 1:24.453 in Friday's second session. He was followed by his Red Bull team mate Mark Webber, with Lotus's Kimi Raikkonen getting the third-best time and another Lotus driver, Romain Grosjean, fourth. Next came Alonso, who is second in the standings and hopes to win Ferrari's home grand prix to boost his title hopes, with a time of 1:25.330. His Brazilian teammate Felipe Massa, who may be dropped by Ferrari next season, was eighth, with a time that was over a second slower than Vettel's, after having gear problems.
