Rome, September 6 - Florence Mayor and Democratic Party (PD) leader-in-waiting Matteo Renzi rose 3% in a week to score 50% as Italy's most popular politician in a poll released Friday by the SWG agency for State broadcaster RAI. PD Premier Enrico Letta was down 3% to 40% while centre-right People of Freedom (PdL) Party leader Silvio Berlusconi, who is threatening to sink the PD-PdL government over his possible ejection from the Senate after an August 1 tax-fraud conviction, was down to 23% from 28% a month ago. The approval rating of President Giorgio Napolitano, who has warned against a government crisis, stood at 43%.
