Letta says 'giving all for govt I didn't campaign for'

(see related) Genoa, August 30 - Italian Premier Enrico Letta said Friday he was "giving his all" for his left-right coalition government, despite the fact that "it isn't the government he campaigned for". Speaking at a rally in Genoa for his centre-left Democratic Party, Letta reminded supporters of his unprecedented appointment in April, when President Giorgio Napolitano named him to lead a coalition government made up of the PD and the centre-right People of Freedom party of ex-premier Silvio Berlusconi in order to end two months of gridlock following inconclusive elections. Letta said that at the next elections he will "campaign for a centre-left government".
