Rome, August 29 - The Democratic Party (PD) will vote to strip Silvio Berlusconi of his Senate seat to uphold a ban that came with his August 1 four-year tax-fraud conviction, PD leader Guglielmo Epifani reiterated Thursday. "The law must be equal for all," Epifani said, advising Berlusconi's People of Freedom (PdL) Party to try to keep the ex-premier's legal and political issues separate. The PD leader, whose party is in an unprecedented emergency reform government with long-time foe PdL, added that the law which banned Berlusconi was not against the Italian Constitution. The three-time premier and media magnate has appealed to the Constitutional Court and the European Court of Human Rights against the sentence, his first final verdict in 20 years of battles against magistrates he says are politically biased.
