Attack on Israelis in Bulgaria 'heinous' crime, says Monti

(ANSA) - Rome, July 19 - Wednesday's terrorist attack on Israelis in Bulgaria was a "heinous" crime that will only strengthen Italy's ties with Israel, Italian Primier Mario Monti said on Thursday. In a message sent to Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, Monti sent condolences to the Israeli people and denounced the attack which occurred one day earlier. "This is a heinous crime, which only serves to further strengthen our ties and our closeness with Israel, and the legitimate aspirations of its people to live in peace and security," wrote Monti. Bulgaria's Interior Minister said seven people are dead following the suicide attack against a bus carrying Israeli tourists. Five Israelis died from the explosion, as well as the Bulgarian bus driver and the suicide bomber.
