Judges order temporary closure of two Puglia water plants

Bari, August 28 - Judges in the southern region of Puglia ordered water treatment plants in the cities of Trani and Molfetta to be temporarily sealed off on Wednesday due to suspected pollutants in the water. The court ordered for the plants to be cleaned up and are probing several people for damaging public water, throwing dangerous objects into the water and for violating safety regulations. Managers at the Molfetta plant are also being probed for the interruption of an essential public service, fraudulent use of public supplies and misappropriation of state funding.
