Siracusa, August 28 - Two boats carrying over 300 migrants including a newborn were rescued Wednesday off the coast of Sicily. The first boat carried 191 passengers, while the second carried roughly 150, according to Italian Coast Guard. Among the migrants was a four-day-old girl, born at sea. "We found her with a piece of her umbilical cord still attached," said Coast Guard Captain Luca Sancilio "The baby is doing well like her mother". The nationalities of the migrants was not made known. In recent weeks increased numbers of Syrians have made the crossing from North Africa as conflict rages in their homeland.
