Violent soccer fans arrested using new 'deferment' measure

Milan, August 27 - Two Milan soccer fans suspected of stadium violence during the Serie A Verona-Milan match on Sunday were arrested using a recently introduced measure allowing for deferred arrest, police said on Tuesday. The two hard-core 'ultra' fans, a 24-year-old and 21-year-old man both have previous records for stadium violence, police said. They were identified using images from the Verona stadium's surveillance cameras and face charges of aggravated damage, possession and use of dangerous objects. Police are still working to identify other fans involved in the incident.
