Juventus coach calls for strong stand against racism

Rome, August 23 - Juventus coach Antonio Conte on Friday urged all those involved in Italian soccer to take a strong stand against racism, only a few days after black Juventus players were targeted by Lazio fans with monkey chants in Juve's 4-0 Super Cup win. Conte said he was convinced that "all the movement" that surrounds the sport can do much to halt racism. "Any violent episode, any form of intolerance, needs to be rejected". He called for journalists to stop displaying or reporting racist banners at stadiums, and said that if there were sections of stadiums in which the audience was chanting racist comments, they needed to be shut down.
