Govt approves bill on sharing crime data with United States

Rome, August 23 - The Italian government approved a bill Friday to ratify an anti-crime accord with the United States, enabling the countries to share more data on suspects and convicted criminals. "The conclusion of the accord was necessary to strengthen police cooperation through information sharing and implementation of automated technologies that promote more effective forms of control, especially at the borders," said a cabinet statement. The forms of data addressed in the accord include fingerprint data and DNA profiles.
