Kabul, August 23 - Italian NGO Emergency has opened five new medical centres in southern Afghanistan's Helmand district, the Pajhwok news agency reported Friday. Helmand public health chief Inayatullah Ghafari said they were well-equipped centres in areas where the Taliban insurgency is most active. Emergency, based at Helmand capital Lashkargah, has treated more than 3.753 million people since it started Afghan operations in December 1999.
