Brindisi, August 21 - A ferry company said Wednesday that it would investigate after a crew member reportedly threatened to throw a blind woman and her guide dog into the Adriatic Sea. A spokesman for European Ferries said that incident occurred when the woman, 24, left a particular area where she had been seated "for safety reasons" such as evacuations on the ferry from Brindisi. Maurizio Prudentino said the woman and her guide dog Vera entered a separate seating area and restaurant, and was told to leave. The woman has complained to police that a crew member threatened to throw her and Vera into the sea. Prudentino said such words must have been based on "a misunderstanding" and an internal investigation is continuing.
