Soccer: Pope friendly 'special' says Buffon

Rome, August 12 - Italy's friendly with Argentina for soccer-loving Pope Francis at the Olimpico Wednesday will be a "special" match, captain Gianluigi Buffon said Monday. "This is a special match: everything is great, there are the right ingredients to try to make a good impression and honour the match in the best way," the Juve skipper told reporters as he arrived at the Rome hotel where both teams will be staying. The match will help kick off an international school network to help underprivileged youth, a project that stems from two educational projects Francis fostered as archbishop of Buenos Aires, the Vatican said Monday. Buffon said: "We know there aren't three points at stake but the other aspects are much more important".
