Girl dies from bus-crash injuries, raising death toll to 39

Naples, August 6 - A 16-year-old girl involved in a bus crash on July 28 near the southern city of Avellino has died of her injuries, doctors said on Tuesday, bringing the death toll up to 39. Simona Del Giudice was being treated in Loreto Mare hospital in the city of Naples after a bus slammed into a guardrail that it travelled down for at least 100 meters before flying off a 30-meter high viaduct when the protective railing gave way. Three people are being probed in relation to the crash, including Gennaro Lametta, owner of the bus company and brother of Ciro Lametta, the driver who died in the crash. The bus was carrying a group of friends returning from a weekend excursion to the local Telese thermal baths and the popular pilgrimage destination of Pietralcina.
