Italy's foreign minister encourages prudence abroad

Rome, August 6 - Italy's Foreign Minister Emma Bonino on Tuesday told Italians travelling abroad for summer vacation to do so "with prudence". "I have asked Italian tourists to be careful...but not to be alarmist," Bonino said during an interview with Unomattina morning TV talk show. "Those travelling to the Red Sea, for example, should avoid going on excursions". She said that information provided by the ministry for travellers was place-specific, while reminding viewers that "all of the southern coast of the Mediterranean is experiencing a historic moment with numerous regional conflicts. Therefore, an appeal for caution seems appropriate," the minister said. She reminded travellers to register on the ministry site 'Dovesiamonelmondo' so that they can be traced in case of emergencies.
