Economic turnaround real but needs 'solidifying'

Rome, August 6 - Signs of economic recovery are visible, but "must be solidified," said Bank of Italy sources following a working breakfast with the governor of the Italian central bank, Ignazio Visco, Premier Enrico Letta and Economy Minister Fabrizio Saccomanni on Tuesday. The first signs of a turn around "are real", but "political continuity is necessary" to keep the trend growing, economy ministry sources said. "We cannot afford a political crisis," Letta said, on Monday. That means Italy must move quickly on election law reforms, to head off future political instability, added Letta. "We must give a signal that we want to overcome the causes of instability".
