Insults against magistrates 'unacceptable' says union

Rome, August 2 - Insults and attacks aimed at Italy's magistrates following ex-premier Silvio Berlusconi's tax fraud ruling on Thursday are unacceptable, the country's judges and prosecutors' union ANM said on Friday. "They must be rejected firmly," the union said. Berlusconi said was the victim of an "unequalled judicial attack" after his four-year prison term for tax fraud was upheld by the supreme court Thursday. He said in a video message that the sentence confirmed his view that "an irresponsible part of the judiciary" had "permanently conditioned" Italy's political life.
