European markets have shaky opening

(ANSA) - Milan, July 23 - European stock markets opened sharply lower on Monday amid concerns over the ability of Spain's regions to pay their debts. Spain's main stock index dropped 5.8% and Spanish 10-year government bond yield scaled a euro-era high at 7.32%. The Milan bourse also had losses at opening as the FTSE MIB was down 2.5% at 12,740 points.
