Milan, July 26 - A man has been arrested in Milan for burning his wife and her new partner after she decided to leave her husband to escape forced prostitution, police said on Friday. Both the woman and her partner are being treated in the city's Niguarda hospital in serious but stable condition. The incident occurred July 18 when a 48-year-old Romanian man attacked his 31-year-old wife, also Romanian, who had chosen to leave him and her life as a prostitute, together with her Moroccan partner. Witnesses said that the woman and her new partner had agreed to sit down at a bar with her husband, Rica Manole, when shortly after a fight broke out. Manole reportedly doused the two with alcohol and lit them. Doctors said that woman will need at least two years of therapy for second-and-third degree burns on 40% of her body. Her partner suffered second-degree burns on 18% of his body.
