Rome, July 24 - Five amendments proposed to the Italian law last week to lower the penalties on vote swapping will "certainly be corrected in Senate," Democratic Party (PD) Caucus Leader Luigi Zanda said on Wednesday. Ex-premier Silvio Berlusconi's People of Freedom (PdL) party is pushing to reduce prison time from a four-to-10 year sentence, to a two-to-six year jail term. The other three amendments seek to modify the parameters defining vote buying. The amendments were proposed by PdL MP Gianfranco Chiarelli.
