76 asylum seekers rescued, taken to Lampedusa

Rome, July 19 - The Italian Navy on Friday rescued 76 asylum seekers from a dinghy in distress in the Sicilian Channel between Italy and Africa. The migrants, who said they were from Ethiopia, Eritrea, Somalia, Nigeria and Pakistan, were taken to the island of Lampedusa south of Sicily. They were reported to be in good health.
