Year has been 'intense and uneasy,' says Napolitano

(ANSA)- Rome, July 18 - The last year has been "one of the most intense and uneasy" in the history of the Italian republic, President Giorgio Napolitano said on Thursday. There have been "extraordinary events, moments of tension and even the risk of an unprecedented paralysis of public life," the head of State said following the annual 'Ventaglio' ceremony in which the president is given a decorative fan by the Parliamentary Press Association (ASP). "Our collective attention must be focused on the critical economic and social conditions of our country," Napolitano said.
