Milan bourse cheered by positive signals on euro crisis

(ANSA) - Milan, July 30 - The Milan stock exchange's benchmark FTSE Mib index gained 2.52% to climb to 13,936 points following an hour of trading on Monday after investors received comforting signals at the weekend about the eurozone crisis. Italian Premier Mario Monti and German Chancellor Angela Merkel said on Sunday they were ready to take all necessary measures to protect the single currency and Eurogroup President Jean-Claude Juncker said all the members of the eurozone were prepared to buy the bonds of countries facing soaring borrowing costs. The markets soared at the end of last week when European Central Bank President Mario Draghi said his body was ready to do everything needed to save the euro.
