Foreign Trade Institute becomes Italian Trading Agency

Rome, July 16 – Italy's global trade agency has developed a new logo and a new mission which it hopes will help the country's export sector boost its profile. Tuesday's announcement came at the same time Italy posted a trade surplus of 11 billion euros in 2012, the highest since 2003, said the Italian Trading Agency (ITA), formerly known as the Foreign Trade Institute (ICE). "The new ICE is determined to always promote a modern and integrated service, involving the whole of Italy," said chief executive Riccardo Monti, presenting the new logo for the ITA. "Our main business must be to help, immediately and concretely, individual companies to land on foreign markets". According to the ITA, Italian exports rose by 3.7% in 2012 thanks to a cheaper euro and a slowdown in product-price increases, while imports into Italy were down by 5.7%.
