Rome municipal offices raided for 'mafia infiltration'

Rome, July 16 - Rome police raided municipal offices in the beachside town of Ostia for suspected mafia infiltration. Rome Mayor Ignazio Marino on Monday removed one manager and a staff member from the administrative office under the same suspicions, tied to allegedly granting mafia members prized space to operate kiosks. Several employees were said to be under investigation for abuse of office and corruption. The move comes thanks to information retrieved after a raid several days ago on the Spada gang, police said.
