Rome, July 15 - Brazilian full back Maicon was in Rome on Monday for a medical for his transfer from Manchester City to AS Roma. The 31-year-old is returning to Italy after winning four Serie A crowns, two Italian Cups, a Champions League and a Club World Cup with Inter Milan during his 2006-2012 stint with them. He barely featured for City last season though and is looking to have a strong season with Roma to win back his place in the Brazil national team ahead of next year's World Cup in his homeland. He is expected to join his new teammates at a training camp in the northern mountain resort of Riscone di Brunico on Tuesday. Roma need to strengthen their defence with another Brazilian, Marquinhos - a 19-year-old who was one of the few players to perform well in Roma's disappointing campaign last season - reportedly set to join Paris Saint-Germain in a big-money move.
