Bill to create equal rights for kids born in and out of wedlock

Italian premier announces parentage decree

Rome, July 12 - Italian Premier Enrico Letta on Friday said a law decree to grant equal rights to children born in and out of wedlock has been sent to parliament for approval. ''We have sent a decree regarding parentage to parliament,'' Letta said. ''It is very important. The distinction disappears between first and second class children. Children are children, and that's it. This is a great fact of civilization,'' said Letta, presenting the decree approved by his cabinet. The premier noted that the differentiation between children born in or outside of marriage ''has been accompanied by genuine human tragedies'' in the past. ''It is an enormous rule for civilization, a very strong choice,'' Letta said.
