Turin, July 12 - Italian police on Friday arrested seven suspected members of the Calabrian-based 'Ndrangheta crime syndicate on suspicion of rigging contracts in the northern region of Piedmont. Police said the contracts were rigged in favour of an 'Ndrangheta cell ('drine) operating in Turin for years. The arrests took place in Turin, Novara and Biella. Police said they seized a "huge" amount of assets. 'Ndrangheta has been investing its huge cocaine profits in the northern economy for 20 years, police say.
