Clean-up underway for Eni refinery spill

Clean-up underway for Eni refinery spill

Taranto, July 9 - An oil slick caused by a black out overnight Monday at energy giant Eni's refinery in the southern port city of Taranto is expected to be cleaned up by Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning, the company and port authorities said. A power shutdown due to bad weather caused the slick, which spread overnight 30-40 square meters across the bay where the refinery operates. Ecotaras, the company assisting with clean-up operations, estimated that no more than 100 liters leaked into the harbor and said that the situation was not an emergency.
