Confindustria chief calls for simplifying business rules

(see related) Milan, July 8 - The chief of Italian industry federation Confindustria on Monday praised the name of a demonstration-conference held in Milan called "Day of Wrath - Stop the Harrassments", organized by operators of the recession-hit Italian construction sector. Thousands of yellow hard hats were arranged concentrically around a landmark bronze statue of a hand giving a defiant gesture - middle finger raised - that stands outside of the Milan bourse. Associations representing the construction sector are calling for urgent government action to remove "100 harassments" or bureaucratic impediments construction operators say get in the way of doing business, and that could be eliminated at "zero cost" to the Italian Treasury. "I find this day to be just, (drawing attention to) the harassment that keeps us from recovering on an economic level," said Squinzi. "We need simplification," Squinzi added. "We are fighting for it. This government at least is giving some signals of attention, but the road ahead is still long".
