Vatican daily praises Superman movie for 'opening debate'

Rome, July 4 - The official Vatican daily praised the new Superman movie on Thursday for "reopening the debate on the religiosity" of the superhero's secret identity Clark Kent. "From the film, in fact, not only is his Christian faith confirmed...but it makes a risky exegetical jump, so much so that it's even pushed the American press to speak of a Christological dimension of the character," according to L'Osservatore Romano. Superman: Man of Steel, which was released this summer, received much attention for its allusions to Christ. Warner Bros., which produced the blockbuster, hired Christian-Based Marketing Firm to help spread the Christian themes of the film to church-going demographics.
