Genoa, July 3 - The latest high-speed train for state railway Ferrovie dello Stato (FS) was proudly unveiled by its chief executive officer Wednesday. Calling it beautiful, glamourous, aggressive and powerful the trains manufactured by Canada's Bombardier can reach speeds of 400 km/h, said Mauro Moretti. The first train off the line, which will ferry passengers between Milan and Rome in just over two hours, was presented at the Bombardier plant in Vado Ligure. It's only the first in the new fleet of 50 for the Frecciarossa 1000 line. At a total cost of about 1.5 billion euros and a due date of 2015, Moretti is confident the investment in the high-speed fleet will be worthwhile.
